Janine Coates

Senior Lecturer in Qualitative Research Methods, Loughborough University

Dr Janine Coates is an academic and a researcher at Loughborough University, with expertise in equity and inclusion in physical activity and sport. She is also the co-chair of the National Early Years Active Start Partnership, and led on the development of the www.earlymovers.org website – a free resource sharing evidence-based guidance and activities to support physical development for children in their early years. Janine has particular interest in the experiences of children with special educational needs and disabilities, and in outdoor learning and play, where her research focuses on Forest School. Janine’s recent projects include a study examining parents’ experiences of Forest School parent and toddler groups, and an acceptability study of a physiotherapy supportive product (Moti Me) designed to support motor skill development for young children with physical disabilities.
