Kristy Howells
Dr Kristy Howells is Reader in Children’s Physical Activity, Health and Wellbeing, at Canterbury Christ Church University. She is the Chair of the Early Years Special Interest Group for AIESEP, the International Association for Physical Education in Higher Education. She is the lead author of "Mastering Primary Physical Education, which focuses on how movement, especially in the early years, can develop young children’s physical competence and confidence. Kristy’s research examines motor competency, play, wellbeing and physical activity as foundations for lifelong health. She has contributed expert guidance on nutrition, wellbeing, physical activity and physical development to the Association of Physical Education, the Department for Education, Ofsted, and in the House of Commons. Kristy has over 160 publications and evidence cited in more than 40 national and international policy reports. She works with educators, health professionals, and communities to ensure every child moves more, eats well, and thrives.
