Nancy Stewart
Nancy Stewart is a writer, consultant and trainer in early years development and learning. She has wide experience across early years sectors in schools, nurseries, local authority advisory service, and National Strategies where she was Senior Early Years Adviser. Key areas of interest and expertise are communication and language for thinking, children’s development as self-regulated learners and the central place of play in learning and teaching. Nancy co-authored Development Matters 2012 and her books include How children learn - The characteristics of effective early learning, and Your Baby – from birth to 18 months. She led development of the non-statutory guidance for the EYFS, Birth to Five Matters, and is currently Project Lead for the Birth to Five Matters review.
