Sarah Steel
Sarah is the Founder of The Old Station Nursery Ltd, having set the group up in 2002 and then having sold the 10 nurseries to French childcare provider, La Maison Bleue, in 2019. They have expanded rapidly since and now have 79 sites across the UK.
Sarah was the Chair of the National Day Nurseries’ Association until her term ended earlier this year, representing the needs of the sector whenever possible. She continues as a member of the NDNA’s Policy Board. She also chaired the Covid-19 Working Group, that bought many of the larger providers together during the pandemic.
She is a member of the National Partnership in Early Years (NPELC) which brings together 10 of the largest childcare providers to lobby the Government about all things Early Years.
She moved from being CEO of the Group to being Chair last year and is now splitting her time between the company and the PhD which she has recently started, looking at ‘Leadership in the Early Years’.
