Verity Campbell-Barr

Professor, University of Plymouth

Verity Campbell-Barr is a Professor in Early Childhood Education at the University of Plymouth. Verity has over 20 years of experience researching early childhood education and care services. Her research interests focus on the quality of early childhood education, particularly the role of the early childhood workforce in supporting high-quality provision. She has an interest in the concept of child-centredness and what it means for quality pedagogic interactions within early years services and has co-led two European projects in this area. Verity has also undertaken international research on the knowledge, skills and attitudes for working in early childhood services and has completed an analysis of the full range of early childhood degrees available in England, as well as looking at early years workforce policy across the UK. Drawing on her interest in quality and pedagogic interactions, she has embarked on research into what constitutes a high-quality early years curriculum and the centrality of the workforce in delivering this.
